The Museum of Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts takes pride on its extensive collections and stature as an academically reputable art museum with an international outlook. With collections spanning across historical eras to contemporary times, the Museum aims at creating a high-standard academic platform for educational research and creative communications. With the academy’s cultural vision and the call for great learning as basis, Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts Museum attends to expand the academic perspective relative to civilized prominence and contemporary artistic and aesthetic erudition.
The Museum has nine exhibition halls with over 20,000 artifacts. The first floor consists of a prime collection of ancient paintings from the Five Dynasties to Ming and Qing periods. The coping studio is located on Level 2 alongside over 2,000 artifacts. Level 3 holds over 1,300 paintings, prints, sculptures, design works from academy professors as well as domestic and international alumni. The Contemporary Artists’ Works Hall and lecture theater are also located on Level 3. Archeological Art Hall is located on Level 4 with over 2,100 historical artifacts such as bronze-ware, jade-ware, ceramics and Buddha statues. Folk Art Hall has a collection of over 12,000 artifacts, including paper cutting, mud sculptures, masks, shadow play figures and embroideries. Level 5 is dedicated to College History Hall of over 900 invaluable collected items. In addition, the Silk Road Collections Hall and Stone Carvings Hall have over 1,000 and 40 artifacts respectively. With its roots set on traditional culture, Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts Museum is a comprehensive reservoir of multi-genre collections embracing the ancient alongside modern, and the East with West.
As the only high standard college museum in China’s western region, Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts Museum aims to preserve and promote national cultural heritage, while providing a public platform for aesthetic education and cross-cultural communications. As a sedimentary of the academy’s cultural heritage and education ethos, the Museum credits the nation’s cultural soft power, while serving as a founding stone for social and technological advancement. Our Museum will strive to exhibit the vast Chinese culture achievements to an international audience.
